ANSYS 004: Rommek / Decka / Natureboy Gold

After a ridiculous old skool jungle + dnb rinse out last month, we've decided to take the tempo down a little and increase the darkness. Heavy hitting techno all night long, lights off, strobes on, and a surplus of smoke machines, you get the picture.

From the dungeons of Tresor to the wonders of Torquay, Rommek can be found smashing it on some of the biggest dancefloors all over Europe on a regular basis. His unique atmospheric, dark and textured tracks, catalysed by his extensive interest in sound design, have enabled him to firmly carved his way into the current techno scene.

His debut, 'Thought Patterns EP' on the London based label Weekend Circuit, established the Loose Lips resident's position on the techno map. Since then, various releases on Sonntag Morgen., Dyad and ARTS have proven his wide appeal through the combination of the energetic, gritty UK sound combined with deep and transcendental aspects. In 2016 Rommek joined James Ruskin's s iconic BlueprintRecords, with his debut 'Moth Hole’ EP and also contributed to the 20 years ‘Structures and Solutions’ compilation. From this he has gained support from the likes of RØDHÅD, Ben Sims, Inigo Kennedy, Shifted, The Black Dog, Luke Slater and many more.

It's safe to say Rommek has already blown as an artist, and now we can't wait for him to blow the roof off Sticky Mikes!

A Brighton debut here for Decka! After releasing the incredible 'Begyndelsen' EP via SPE:C this time last year we knew it was only a matter of time before we had to get him down to smash it by the seaside. The record won plaudits across the board for its unrelenting and assured techno sound, gaining support from heavyweights such as Randomer, Matrixxman, and Objekt. Desribed by Boiler Room as “a slab of stomping, heavyweight techno with a particular kind of 4am-in-a-barebrick-tunnel rave SFX” its exactly the sound we had in mind when curating this night.

To contrast the darkness, a second release on SPE:C titled 'Isolated' highlighted the more melodic & refined sound of the Bristol based producer. With another release on the horizon, and a remix late last year on Rebekah's label Decoy, 2017 looks exciting for Decka and we can't wait to hear what he's got in store for us in February!

Natureboy Gold

Flying straight over from Berlin for his Brighton debut, we can’t wait to have selector, producer and Retrograde head honcho Natureboy Gold treating us to some succulent selections in the basement!

Retrograde's residency at ://about blank, now in its 6th edition, has given Natureboy Gold plenty of space to flex his techno muscles, treating the people of Berlin to delicious sounds since 2015 alongside greats such as Trevino, Helena Hauff, A Made Up Sound, Suzanne Kraft and many others. Their radio shows on Cashmere Radio are a further testament to both Natureboy Gold and Retrograde’s impeccable music taste, and are absolutely not to be missed.

His recent track ‘Eternal’ on Retrograde's ‘In Reverse Pt.1’ adeptly combines dreamy synths with hard hitting bouncy beats, and his recent release ‘Prozac Test’ on Glasgow-based label Craigie Knowes displays the same craftsmanship used to produce a similarly dreamy, acid-soaked ambience. These stellar productions are putting Natureboy Gold into the books of producers to keep an eye on, and we can’t wait to hear what more he has in store.
